In 1 Kings 19, Elijah has processed his circumstances apart from the word of God and that led him to flee in terror for his life without looking for any direction from the Lord. How common is it for fears to crowd out the need to go to God for strength and wisdom to obey him, even in fearful circumstances?
It’s no wonder the Bible repeatedly reveals a key element in defeating fear and anxieties:
-Php 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
-1 Pet 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
-Ps 56:3 When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. 4 In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?
